There is something about waking up with the sun peeking through my bedroom window that helps me greet the day with faith, expectation, and joy.  I can trace this fascination with sunlight to my childhood Sunday School Class.  I remember asking the teacher, my maternal grandmother, how to know and be certain that Jesus is real without seeing him. My grandmother said, “you can see Jesus smiling through the trees when the sun shines bright, and it reminds you that He is your light.”

Although, I am not that six-year-old little girl in Sunday School anymore, I continue to hold her words close to my heart, especially when I am afraid, anxious and in need of comfort.

Unquestionably, God is with us whether it rains or shines.  In Matthew 28: 20, Jesus tells us that He is with us always, until the end of time.  So, when worry and fear try to weigh you down, be encouraged that every time you see the sun shining bright it is a gentle reminder of God’s love, guidance, and protection.  When everything seems dark, may the Lord Jesus always be your light.
